Chandler French is a licensed and board-certified Art therapist with extensive experience blending art therapy with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), trauma-focused therapy, parent-child therapy, and always being client-centered. She graduated with honors from the Pratt Institute and is licensed to practice in Connecticut and New York State. She works with high-functioning children and adults who struggle with depression, anxiety, ADHD, social anxiety, self-harm, developmental and learning disabilities, and social anxiety. She works with a wide range of clients, from adolescents, adults, and parents to business leaders. And corporations. Chandler provides time-limited and solution-focused therapy to help clients work through their challenges and live the life they want. Clients often see a reduction of symptoms early on in treatment.
Chandler’s expertise is in helping individuals and families struggling with anxiety, depression, family issues, anger issues, ADHD, PTSD, self-harm, and addiction recovery issues. She also provides DBT skills to clients, focusing on core skills of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Clients are high-functioning individuals who struggle with emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
Chandler utilizes art therapy for children as a vehicle to encourage her clients to give voice to their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. The symbolic images generated allow children a capacity to express feelings and ideas about their struggles and challenges that are too emotionally charged for verbal communication. Her expressive approach offers distance in reflecting—as one reflects on the art as an extension of the inner self to gain insight. The seamless integration of art therapy with evidence-based modalities helps children overcome obstacles. Expressive art therapy also helps them imagine a happier version of themselves and ways to develop healthier coping skills to restore optimal balance.
Chandler utilizes a biopsychosocial model in her practice. She considers the biological, psychological, and social factors influencing the client’s body and mind. Her evidence-based behavioral approaches, including mindfulness, provide the highest quality of care and positive outcomes. Chandler is an easy-to-talk-to, compassionate, and nonjudgmental clinician who will help your child work through challenges and achieve goals. Her approach comes from a place of validation and empathy.
At Greenwich Psychology Group, our symptom checker helps clients track their symptoms of depression or anxiety. Taking the assessment doesn't provide a formal diagnosis, but it can help you determine what next steps you may need to take. The evaluation uses a series of questions to review the feelings and symptoms you've experienced over the past two weeks. The results will help you distinguish if professional help is the best next step.
